The Nokia Lumia 735 is a Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone developed by Microsoft Mobile. Unveiled on 4 September 2014 at IFA Berlin, the device is a mid-range smartphone with a particular emphasis on "selfies"—aided by a 5-megapixel, wide-angle front facing camera. The phone will be released in certain markets in a 3G-only dual SIM version, branded as the Lumia 730.^[3]^[4]

Xiaomi Mi2S (often referred to as Xiaomi Phone 2S, Chinese: 小米手机2s), is a high-end, Android smartphone produced byXiaomi. The device features a quad-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 as its CPU.^[1]^[2]

Two variations of the Mi2S have been released, a 16GB and a 32GB model. In addition to storage amount also the back camera is also different. The 16GB model features a 8-megapixel camera with aperture f/2.0, meanwhile the 32 GB model features a 13-megapixel camera with aperture f/2.2. Moreover, the lenses have 35mm equivalent focal length of 27mm on the 16GB model compared to 28mm on the 32GB model. The devices were initially were sold in China for ¥1999 for the 16GB model, and ¥2299 for the 32GB model.^[1]

The casing of the Xiaomi Mi2S is mostly made from plastic, with SIM card slots located inside. The microUSB port is located at the bottom of the device with the audio jack located at the top of the device. The power and volume keys were locate on the right side of device. Near the top of the device are a front-facing camera, proximity sensors, and a notification LED^{[citation needed]}. In particular, the proximity sensors are mostly used to detect whether the device is in a pocket or not. The device is widely available in white, green, yellow, blue, red and pink color finishes. The device's display is larger than its predecessor, with a 4.3-inch, 720p IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of ~342ppi, and Dragontrail glass.

The model is one of two variations of the Xiaomi Mi2 Xiaomi created before creating the Xiaomi Mi3. The device comes with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. It contains a 2000mAh battery.

Updates[edit]

Updates for the Xiaomi Mi2S is available in three channels: stable, developer and daily. New stable builds are usually available every month with major changes between each update, new developer builds are usually available every week with small but sometimes significant features added between each update and new beta builds are usually available every Wednesdays and usually only contain small fixes and optimizations. Beta builds are only available to some beta testers selected on MIUI's community forums. To update between versions, users usually use an over-the-air updater application.

The Nokia N1 is an Android tablet developed by Nokia. Unveiled on 18 November 2014, it is Nokia's first mobile device since the sale of its originalmobile phone business to Microsoft earlier in the year.^[1] It was released in China on 7 January 2015.

Development[edit]

According to Nokia's product chief Sebastian Nystrom, work on the tablet began on 28 April just days after the acquisition of its former mobile phone division by Microsoft.^[2] The unveiling of the N1 came shortly after an announcement on 17 November 2014 by Nokia technologies head Ramzi Haidamus that the company would begin to contract the manufacturing of future Nokia products to third-party companies, to ensure a continued consumer presence for the "valuable" Nokia brand. As part of the sale, Nokia is subject to non-compete clauses forbidding it from producing Nokia-branded smartphones until the end of 2015, and feature phones for 10 years after the closure of the Microsoft sale, but is still free to produce devices in other product segments, such as tablets.^[3]
The N1 was ultimately unveiled the next day at the Slush conference.^[4]^[5] While using Nokia's design, technology, and logo under license, Foxconn will be responsible for manufacturing, marketing, distribution, and technical support for the N1, and not Nokia.^[4]
The N1 is one of the first major devices to include the new reversible "type-C" USB connector; although the new design is part of the updated USB 3.1specification, the N1 will only support USB 2.0 speeds. In response to this regression, a Nokia spokesperson stated that "our partner didn’t have access to that kind of solution on the chipset that we’re building the device on. It’s just a pure question of having the availability. We believe that the reversible connector is an easier way, and of course the chipset from Intel is quite capable and we wanted to maximize the capability there, but the 3.1 USB capability was not available for this chipset at this time."^[6]

Specifications[edit]

The overall design and hardware specifications of the N1 are very similar to the iPad Mini 3,^[7]^[1]^[5] featuring an aluminium unibody chassis, a laminated 7.9-inch IPS LCD display, a 64-bit, 2.4 GHz quad-core Intel Atom system-on-chip with 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage. The N1 includes an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.^[1]^[7]
The N1 runs an otherwise stock distribution of Android 5.0 "Lollipop", but includes an alternative home screen known as Z Launcher. Z Launcher emphasizes the use of gestures for navigation; users can search for applications or contacts by tracing letters onto the device's screen. Z Launcher was also released via Google Play Store for Android smartphones, but the tablet version is exclusive to the N1.^[8]^[1] The N1 is the first Nokia-branded device to officially support Google Mobile Services and ship with access to Google Play Store; the discontinued Nokia X series used a fork of Android, Nokia X software platform, which substituted Google's proprietary software with similar apps from Nokia and Microsoft, and used a Nokia-specific application store.^[9]

The N1 was released in China on 7 January 2015 (sells 20,000 units in 4 minutes),^[10] with a release in European countries to follow. It is unknown whether the N1 will be released in any other regions.^[5]

Startup Village is a not-for-profit business incubator based in Kochi, Kerala, India. Started in April 2012, the organisation's aim is to launch 1,000 technology startups over the next ten years and start the search for the next billion-dollar Indian company.^[1] It focusses primarily on student startups and telecom innovation. It is India's first^[2] incubator that is funded jointly by the public and private sector. As of October 2013, Startup Village has incubated 450 startups. The promoters of Startup Village are Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Government of Andhra Pradesh,Technopark, Trivandrum and MobME Wireless. Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys and an IT entrepreneur from Kerala, is the chief mentor at Startup Village.^[3]

Administration[edit]

Sanjay Vijayakumar is the Chairman of Startup Village. Sijo Kuruvilla George was the first Chief Executive Officer of Startup Village until June 2013. Pranav Kumar Suresh, Chief Operating Officer took over from Sijo Kuruvilla George as Chief Executive Officer in July 2014.

Incubation program[edit]

Startup Village provides members with workspace, high-speed Internet connection, legal and intellectual property services and access to high-profile investors. Companies can also apply for the Startup Village Angel Fund that has been approved^[4] by SEBI. They also have access to all the workshops, networking events and contests at Startup Village. Every month, Startup Village holds a community gathering where would-be entrepreneurs can connect with investors, technology innovators and famous businesspersons. Interested founders are asked to come for an open house session^[5] that is held every Saturday at Startup Village's Kochi campus to connect with the team and brainstorm with other like-minded people. They can then apply online^[6] if they wish to enrol for the incubation program. The Startup Village is in process of setting up a similar incubation facility in Andhra Pradesh.^[7]

Developer 1000 program[edit]

While India churns out more than five lakh engineers every year, only 20 percent are readily employable. In order to equip youngsters in India with the best programming knowledge and make mobile technology fun and accessible to many students and future entrepreneur, Startup Village has rolled out an initiative called Dev-1000-P (pronounced Devlooop), through which they aim to create 1000 professional app developers by the end of 2013. This program is open to college students.

SVSquare[edit]

In January 2013, Startup Village and the Kerala government launched an initiative^[8] called SVSquare. Every year, the Startup Village panel would select promising young entrepreneurs from India and send them on an all-expense paid trip to the U.S. The aim is to expose Indian youth to the legendary startup environment in Silicon Valley. This will also give them a chance to interact with some of the famous tech gurus and entrepreneurs in the world.
